“If I hadn’t had the FST shot, I wouldn’t be walking.”
— Adam Rosenberger
Adam has a rare, progressive form of muscular dystrophy called FSH dystrophy, which has gradually impacted his mobility—especially in his lower legs. Walking unassisted has become increasingly difficult over time. After receiving Follistatin, he noticed steady, meaningful improvements: more energy, increased strength, and the ability to walk longer distances with less pain. While he still walks with a limp, the biggest change has been maintaining independence. He believes that without the treatment, he likely wouldn’t be walking on his own today. The injection itself was straightforward, with no adverse side effects, and the benefits unfolded gradually rather than all at once.
A lifelong athlete, Adam describes the emotional weight of doing everything possible to slow a disease that emerged in his twenties — yet still watching mobility slip away. With no FDA-approved treatments currently available for FSH dystrophy, preserving quality of life has become his primary goal. He notes that while other interventions helped marginally, Follistatin has been the most impactful support he’s experienced in the last decade. For Adam, Minicircle’s work represents something essential: the ability for people to make informed choices and reclaim a sense of control over their bodies and their futures, even when the odds aren’t in their favor.
